RHS Chelsea 2026 – Parkinson's UK: A Garden for Every Parkinson's Journey
Designed by Arit Anderson
In Spring 2026, Beaufort & Rampton Landscapes, alongside Richard Curle and the team at Landscape Associates, were commissioned to build Parkinson’s UK, A Garden for Every Parkinson’s Journey, designed by award-winning garden designer and broadcaster Arit Anderson for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
Over several weeks, we transformed the show site into a highly immersive and sensory landscape designed to reflect the diverse experiences of people living with Parkinson’s. The garden was created in partnership with Parkinson’s UK to raise awareness of the condition and demonstrate how thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces can support wellbeing, connection and moments of calm.
The garden takes visitors on a journey through three distinct spaces, each inspired by different aspects of living with Parkinson’s. An uplifting and energising area features vibrant planting, rich colour and accessible gardening elements designed to celebrate optimism and enjoyment. This flows into a calm, woodland-inspired space for rest and reflection, where layered planting, texture and seating created a peaceful retreat. The final section of the garden explores the challenges of disrupted sleep and insomnia through a beautifully crafted timber shelter, soft lighting and carefully selected planting that seek to bring interest and comfort during the evening hours. One of our Directors, Catherine, was involved in planting up the woodland and nighttime planting.
Linking these three spaces together, is a wide, accessible path, featuring a sculptural “hand-rill” that functions as both a flowing water feature and tactile handrail, designed to assist with ‘freezing’, a common Parkinson’s symptom.
The construction of the garden required close collaboration between the designer, sponsors, suppliers and landscape team. Particular attention was paid to the quality of the hard landscaping and planting installation to ensure the garden delivered the intended sensory experience whilst meeting the exacting standards expected at RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
The garden was awarded an RHS Silver Medal and went on to win the prestigious BBC/RHS People’s Choice Award, recognising its powerful message, thoughtful design and emotional connection with visitors throughout the show week.
Following the show, the garden will continue its legacy beyond Chelsea, relocating to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, where it will provide a permanent restorative space for people living with Parkinson’s, their families, carers and healthcare professionals.
Our thanks go to Arit Anderson, Parkinson’s UK, Richard Curle and the team at Landscape Associates, as well as the many suppliers, volunteers and supporters who helped bring this important project to life.
